Intricate, Simple

Today's post is about the tattoo, the skin, and quiet thoughts.

I worked on this post longer than I probably needed to. I overthought it.

I built sets, visited locations.

I tried clothes, no clothes, strategically placed pillows and creative angles.

But all I needed was a simple backdrop and a quiet moment.

I've been wearing Atomic's new Grace skin for a bit now.

I liked the old one, I like the new one. She's a different sort of pretty.

The tattoo arrived with the Harpreet lingerie I officially blogged earlier this month.

I adore henna and henna-esque pieces, but it's not always easy for me to photograph tattoos in the way that I feel about them.

Here, I think I eventually got it.

So. Hi there.

I went to this months' Collabor88 event.

I went there, and I bought things.

And then I went home and started putting things on.

There are so many charming items at this month's round of the event, and I didn't exercise much restraint while shopping there.

I felt vaguely chaotic while piling on the layers, like a mad scientist in the throes of unhinged scientific glee.

When it was all over, though, I didn't feel at all monstrous.

None of the monsters that visit my platform were anywhere to be seen.

And, as you can see, my hair hadn't gone all light-socket-chic.

Nor were there villagers with torches storming my castle.

Maybe that means the results were quite acceptable.

Or, maybe, that I need to try harder.

Hidden Lotus

Aislinn has been a lazy blogger in the New Year.

I've been puttering around in SL, taking photos I haven't shared with you.

If you missed me, even a little, you can thank Cannibelle for my return.

Since my last post, I've been ambling a lot, spending SL days half-dressed and slightly disjointed.

But, when this lingerie arrived, I decided I needed to share the pretty with you.

The Harpreet Lingerie comes in six colors.

I mixed and matched a little, and then made all sorts of pretty, lotus-like backgrounds to photo against. I tried them. I liked them. I even took photos with them.

Then I decided I wanted to go to the beach.

The backdrop there felt prettier, more natural, and I like the splashy sounds of the waves.

So. Here we are. Ta-da!

Winter White

Oh, the holiday season.

It's not quite over yet, but I managed to dig my way out of a mountain of brightly colored paper to log into SL for a little bit.

It's been a few days, and I was loaded down with messages and boxes and notecards and textures. There were a lot of lovely gifts out there this season, and I missed a few by the wonder of messages that cap and messages that just seem to get eaten by the ether.

So, I got my obsessive on and manually checked all of my in-world groups.

Thankfully, most people are kind (and probably super busy, too), so a lot of gifts are still out or still in histories.

In this post are two such gifts.

Cannibelle's silver "Eira" lingerie is still sitting under the tree, waiting to be picked up, along with a tattoo gift that's not pictured here. The pretty, sheer piece made me feel quite wintery (in a warm way).

While wandering around in my underwear (I've been wearing it for what seems like weeks now), I collected LAQ's seasonal gift skin, Ebba.

The icy blue makeup added to my wintery-in-a-warm-way feeling, and so I started scheming.

I've been in deer-mode for weeks, as well, and I stuck with it.

But, I added fawn spots, elfin ears and a snowflake lip ring to fantasy/winter it up.

And this, mis amigos, is the result.

Ta-da! Happy today!

Keeping It Clean

This is one of those posts where I start off with text, and likely a considerable amount, just to give you an opportunity to skip away from here if you need to.

There's a lot of skin, but no actual bits showing.

There are no scandalous activities, unless semi-nude laundry room time makes you point and giggle and whisper eagerly to the nearest thing with listening capabilities.

This post was the product of a recent blogger pack I received in which there was a tattoo that I didn't want to take off and didn't want to cover with clothes.

The tattoo, from Cannibelle, took me to a familiar, comfortable place in my SL world.

Retro, rockabilly, pin up pretty.

It made me smile, and I wrestled with sets and costumes and themes and -- yes, I probably overthought it.

But. Hopefully, you like it a just a little bit anyway.

I built a diner. I built a stage.

I dug up vinyl booths and formica-topped tables. I hunted down microphones and amps.

I dragged out art from Killing Moon Records. I hunted down pieces I'd acquired at gallery shows.

I moved pieces around and spent a ridiculous amount of time hanging out in my underwear or nothing at all with a serious builder face on.

Eventually, I decided the bare skin might-maybe-could make sense in a laundry room or some other domestic situation, and not out in public with all sorts of reasons why to think of for being all nearly-buff-bare there.

Perhaps I was being overly-literal.

Regardless, I had an excuse to get out my old RC Cluster home-making appliances and things, and I took it.

With that idea set, I was finally able to start taking pictures.

I'm not a fast worker when it comes to blogs, but this one took an exceptionally long thinking time.

Perhaps its the time of year, the quiet exhaustion of the home stretch into next year all bogged up by holiday thoughts and random other stresses.

I'm glad it came together as easily as it did once I had my mind set.

With laundry gear in place, I hunted down "domestic" pin ups -- svelte ladies engaged in home-like tasks of awesome.

And. Now. Here were are.

What? She's wearing horns again?

Mm-hm. It's true. I am.

It's how I'm most comfortable right now.

There'll be no changing my mind about it until I change it.

Though, I may not blog myself in them for a bit.

Or. Maybe I will.

Horns. And hooves.

I forgot to mention the hooves up there.

But here they are. Right there. With fuzzy little legs and a fluffy tail to match.

They suit the horns and the horns suit them and the horns and the hooves suit me.

It's really simple, that.

This was a look that I casually photographed, then realized I could make a blog out of it.

So, I went back and grabbed some more photos.

I ended up with more than I could use, and I'm still probably posting too many.

That's alright, I figure.

You'll look at the ones you like, ignore the ones you don't, likely.

Part of what made this look interesting for me is the silks outfit, which is all prim.

I remember my very first all-prim outfit -- a free metal bikini that I could never, ever make fit in a reasonable fashion.

This all prim outfit, however, took only a few tweaks.

And. It fits like a glove.

So exciting.

Dark Darling

I celebrated my fifth rez-day this week.

Five!

To celebrate, I took myself shopping.

The first stop for me was The Plastik. It also happened to be the biggest stop, because I got caught up in the sale there.

Due to an RL emergency for the mind behind the lovely at The Plastik, items are marked down a considerable amount -- making already irresistible pieces even more tempting (plus, you get to help!).

The skins there inspired me to slip back into my faun suit, and I built the look from there.

I used The Plastik's demon fades to blend my Gauze faun legs a bit higher onto my gams, dressed up my face with tattoos from The Plastik and piercings from Ellabella, and relied on Illusions for the horns.

I'd been eyeing the jeweled Nivicola horns for a while, and this was a great excuse to get them.

With everything dark and silvery, I completed the look Poetic Color Fairy Eyes with dark sclera and, yes, a dress from The Plastik.

Modern Vintage

It took a while, but I finally went to the Vintage Fair.

There's lots of lovely to be had, there, and I did my fair share of shopping.

It was a slow process, but I definitely came out with some items I adore.

The hair, lingerie, necklace and ring in the photos are all items available there.

The shoes are a different kind of vintage -- vintage ETD.

I looked at so many pairs of shoes before remembering these, tucked away in a folder I seldom visit.

Galactic Glow

White seems to be the color for my November blogs so far.
Or, perhaps, more generally, it's because when I put on an all-white ensemble after a stretch of not having done so, I remember how much I like it.
And, with that remembered, more white ensembles follow.
It's not necessarily intentional, but that seems to be the way of things.
Launched by the skin, I had a vague alien-moon-princess-night-creature-astral-being theme in my mind.
Corsets and posture collars were the second thought, met and sated by offerings from Rosal.
While looking for the bodysuit, I found the Epoque shoes. The bodysuit is from Maitreya, and I managed to excavate it from my inventory.
Truth's "Kitty," though softer than what I'd envisioned, struck me the most as I was trying on hair -- so I stayed with it.
And. Then. Here we are.

White Demon

For all the time I spend lacing bits of myself together, Halloween -- and the somehwat expected costume -- came very quickly and without much ado.
I attended one Halloween event, and in so doing managed to avoid the holiday burnout that SL can incite. But I still needed one outfit for that one event.
Yes, I blogged a bit of ghoulish, a smidge of Halloween feeling, but actually dressing for the holiday didn't come up until the very last moment.
And, when you spend most every day dressed in some sort of costume -- what counts as a costume? Anything? Everything?
I vote everything.This ensemble became that one Halloween costume for that one Halloween event.
It came together quickly, as an opposing view to a costume that a friend was wearing, in a time that would impress -- if not baffle -- anyone who's suffered through my drawn-out dressing sessions.
And I liked the results. So, I'm blogging it. Ta-da!

Halloween is nigh.
Things that go bump in the night have crept to center stage.
Dark shadows and spider webs are all the rage.
And the whispered chorus of scary stories and nightmares is pacing quickly toward a deafening crescendo.Lots of good fun, all in all.
Laughter, screams and that lovely masked chaos all at a fever pitch before we ease into the glow of more fuzzy-thought holidays.
Before that, though -- here, today, in this post the day before Halloween, Little Red meets a bump in the night.

In SL, I own a ridiculous amount of lingerie.
I sometimes find an excuse to wear it -- like a random underpants party or an episode of stubborn, anti-social sky-box lounging.
But, for the most part, I purchase it, try it on, file it into the proper folder, and it doesn't much see the light of day again unless I'm on a frantic blog search or in one of the scenarios listed above.
This awareness doesn't stop me from buying lingerie, of course.
I am a consumer. I've accepted that.
Now, all of that said -- if you've gotten this far, and you don't want to see a pixel-lady in her underwear, you should avert your eyes, navigate away, and know that you've saved yourself from some pixel-skin and pixel-lace.

Yes. I'm a sucker for a sale, especially when it's on a very pretty thing like this set.
The hair is a moderately recent release from Lelutka. It's huge and aptly named Brigitte.
It made me smile when I saw it, and I keep finding reasons to wear it.
Other pieces came quietly together.
I kept it simple, just some shoes, some lovely new-release eyes from Poetic Color, and a skin that I like to wear.
The result made me happy, and un-shy enough to share.

Peace, Love and Pretty Skirts

Hallo, darlings.
Welcome to Monday night, or Tuesday morning, or [day time-of-day that you happen to come upon this].
I am tired, but I am also sometimes a little stubborn, and I had decided last night that I'd make this post today.
I took the photos late last night after I should have been in bed. So, once I had picked the photos I wanted to use and had cropped them up and things, I promised myself that I would make the post today.
So here I am.
Here we are.I'm going through a skin phase.
I want to change want to change want to change.
But I keep finding myself coming back to old favorites and just adding new clothes.
I developed a small crush on the pieces in these photos.
I now have them in many colors.
I ended up liking this combination enough to share with you.

White Queen

Once upon a time, Aislinn got dressed up to go to parties all the time.
Then, the SL world changed a little, and there weren't so many costume parties as there used to be. There were still some parties, some gigs, some music-fests. But the costumes didn't come around like they used to.
Every once in a while, though, there is still a costume party to be had.
On Labor Day, a pair of friends celebrated their partnering with an "Alice in Wonderland" party. Not only was I invited to attend, but I had the honor of DJing for part of it.
For my costume, I did stretch to "Through the Looking Glass,"but I liked the result. So, I thought I'd share.

Party Crasher

It's been a while.
I accidentally took a month off of this whole blog thing.
August is hot and sticky and comes with a last-ditch crash of summer insanity that just makes me tired. Really tired.
But I'm back now.
I send you virtual cookies if you missed me. If you didn't, that's OK. I know there are lots of things to have on your mind in a very general, sort of every-day way that just can't be avoided.
I like this outfit. I particularly like this shirt. It makes me feel like a party crasher.
It makes me picture that staple '80s movie character guy that shows up to your wedding in a tuxedo-print T-shirt and he's not your brother or your crazy uncle so it's not OK but you'll let it pass because it's your wedding and there are people crying and touching you and smiling at you and you don't hear most of what they're saying because you've been on sensory overload for about a month already.
That guy -- the one in the tuxedo-print T-shirt, looks like he's having a blast, though.
And he's not wearing uncomfortable underwear or a dress that cost more than your first car. Don't worry.
I won't actually try gate-crash anywhere.
Regardless, I don't have that kind of SLenergy.
Instead, I'll wear this around, get random compliments on my painted tie and not be able to quite discern if it's genuine or a backhanded" they-make-prims-for-that-kind-of-thing-now" note, and maybe take a nap or something.

A post-let-some-chick-rebuild-my-shape-to-suit-her-aesthetic-whims-and-now-I'm-going-fashionista-and-blogging-and-wearing-hipster-clothes-with-authority version of of Barely finally found a face I could deal with, even if I'm still not a fan of the change.
The skin makes him look accessible and human, and not like some scary model-face-frat-boy that gives my RLavatar horrible flashbacks to college.
The first time I saw him in it, I liked it enough to tell him I wanted to photograph him. He let me.Of course, after he was patient and let me take a slew of photos that had no real direction other than, "Good job on the skin!" and "P.S. I want your shirt!"...the topic of blogging came up.
He blogs, he could have used these.
I don't think my snaps have appeared in another blog before. It could have been a weird, vainglorious adventure of "getting my name out there" or something classy.
But. I'm selfish. And. Besides. He noogied me.

The Dragon

I have wanted to do a post something like this one for a while now.
The idea wasn't 100 percent set, but Game of Thrones has been flitting around in my head since about halfway through its first season on television this spring.
I was reminded of all of the show's good points today, when my RL avatar finally got around to watching the season finale.
Daenerys Targaryen is lovely, striking creature and one of the most interesting characters to spend time with on the program. So, I started putting her together.
Today was also encouraged by the knowledge a recent release from Adam 'n Eve -- the Dragonskin gown.
I had an entirely different blog in mind for tonight. I was even half-dressed to start taking photos for it. It may come to the page eventually, too. Or, maybe, I'll just do more like this one.
Structured blog planning is difficult with inspiration and whim at work.
Ah, well. For the time being, I hope you enjoy this one, and I'll be back with another when the proper muse strikes.

Pants are Overrated

Today's blog post is brought to you by the letter C and the number 5.
C is for Clawtooth, the inspiration for this post.
And 5 is for the number of photos to which I was able to lazily narrow down my selection of snaps for this post.
I, in typical Ais-fashion, took about a bazillion (I counted) photos -- and these are the ones that survived the cut. It may be too many, but, I'm OK with that.I picked up Clawtooth's "Knitted Up" as a Fifty Linden Friday purchase a couple of weeks ago.
I'm not typically blonde and rarely wear hats, but I'm a Clawtooth fan and generally just can't say no to such lovely things. When I put on the Ais-atypical blonde and hat, I was enamored.
I started thinking about how to blog it almost immediately, and, if I weren't just a little shy, I would have gone nude.
Instead, I opted for a simple, comfortable, wandering around at home on a Saturday sort of feel.

I Went to Hair Fair

So, I finally went to the Hair Fair.
I waited until amost the very last second, and even that decision mostly came on a whim.
While I thought about it and meandered over it and pre-whined about the lag and all of those things, I'd forgotten about the donation aspect of Fair Hair.
Remembering it helped me decide to go.

In an attempt to be money-conscious, I didn't grab every single hair I liked, but I did pick up a few.
I happen to be wearing one such hair, from Shag, in the photos. (It'd be a silly post if I'd talked about Hair Fair but didn't wear hair-fair items, wouldn't it?)
It's one that made me want to put together an outfit, so it won the blog post slot!

The Things I Wear

I spend a lot of time getting dressed in SL.
One night this week, a friend came over as I idled through my inventory, looking for something to wear.
Somewhere along the way, as I methodically went through skins, then clothes, then hair...I realized that was going to be the main activity for the evening.
Dressing!
No music, no parties, no exploring, no windsurfing. Just dressing.
I am lucky to have patient friends who, for the most part, don't seem to mind chattering with me as I painstakingly apply my vanity, layer by layer.
The vast majority of the outfits I put together never see the pages of this blog, and only a handful more see the light of day on Flickr.
Not all of them take ages to put together, either. Even in SL, I'm a victim of my RL penchant for blue jeans and t-shirts.
I like easy, comfortable things, and have a tendency to stick with them even when it is acceptable to wander about dressed in just about anything.I decided to blog this outfit because I like it.
Because it's comfortable and pretty and elegant and simple and lovely in its simplicity.
It started with the skin. I was in reinventing mode and had been wearing sweet, naive faces. This older Atomic skin is pretty and pleasant, but doesn't scream ingenue so aggressively.
The skirt embodies one of my favorite things about Zaara clothing. It is beautiful and unique without being inaccessible.
The nearly-opaque top from Kyoot carries the allure of something simple and touchable, a trait shared by the Truth hair's long, loose braid.
The accessories -- the customizable necklace and Manna's simple bangles -- played into the ease of the outfit for me.
The eyes are the only part of the outfit I didn't change -- my new favorite from Poetic Colors.
And, so, here we are. I'll close this post with a nod to anyone who has ever willingly and happily engaged in familiar, idle chatter with me while I get to a proper state of dressed.
It can't always be easy, but I am grateful for it.

Faun Suit

Faun suits suit my inclination to wear horns.
They also suit my occasional inclination to wear little to no clothing.
For, as fun as dressing up in SL can be, there are times when it's just easier to slap on a t-shirt and some underpants and call it a day.
Fauns can be super dressed to the nines or less than dressed and it all seems to balance out somehow.
That's also nice about faun suits. There's an inherent balance to them.
At least for me. And that is good.I've been wandering around SL in my faun gear for a week, maybe two now.
It's a nice, comfortable place.
I'd picked up the Panda Express outfit -- which includes the prim top, clothing layer bottom, prim belt and other jewelry -- so I thought it'd be a good time to wear it.
It's primal and has fun little details in the feathers and animal teeth and the items on the belt.
I paired it with my favorite henna tattoos and some wild-ish but managed Truth hair and...

On Fire

I went into this blog post with a plan...and came out with an ambiguous country-no-maybe-it's-indie-or-a-rocker-gone-acoustic-or-oh-hell-I-just-can't-tell-anymore music video.
Sort of.
I enjoy it, whatever it is.The original plan was to use a firefly pose prop from Long Awkward Pose I've been wanting to employ and wax philosophical about a song while doing so. You can see the photo results here and here.
I almost did a post with the former of those images, but felt I needed more light.So, I started playing with my settings while I tooled around AM Radio's "Surface" build.
The field's on fire there, and "fire" randomly became of the apparent-though-inadvertent theme of the evening, because I decided to set the sky on fire, too.Then, I started tugging out poses from TeaSoup. I'd picked up a bunch of items there earlier in the day (there's a closing sale going on), and thought I'd try them out.
The guitar pose prop stuck. And. So. Here's my post. Ta-da!

Hi there.
It's Memorial Day.
I'm posting a little late in the day, but I still made it.
It took me a while to put this together.
The post I started out making had nothing to do with the holiday , but it just wouldn't go right.
I figure it was a sign from somewhere nebulous and bright (or just because my mind was elsewhere), so I shifted gears.I decided I'd do a memorial day post, and, without so much as a gap from one thought to the other, a Howard Chandler Christy image slipped into my head.
I was going to recreate the poster altogether, but after getting the look together and sifting through thousands of poses with no luck on a match, time was waning.
I like the result, regardless. It's different, but it feels right.

I wasn't 100 percent sure where I was going when I started to work on the ensemble for this post.
I knew I wanted to use the corset and collar, and the makeup, skin and hair followed naturally. Once again, I just happened to be wearing the piercings, and the eyes are my everyday.
Finding something to go with them, however, was a little tougher.
It would have been easy to slap on a pair of panties, some pasties and over-the-knee boots and call it a day -- but it didn't feel right.
So I started digging.I ran to some stores that I thought might have what I was looking for and came up with nothing.
I searched leather and latex on the Marketplace -- still nothing.
And then, I came across this dress. It was feminine and sexy, offered coverage and exposure at the same time, and, when I put it on, the crocheted texture reminded me of chain mail.
I tugged on the knickers and the boots to finish the ensemble, opting to keep it simple with no other accessories...
And...
Here we are! Happy Sunday.

Today, I felt dark and bondage-y.
So, I set out on a quest for dark and bondage-y clothes, and got distracted by a happy little octopus.
I went to Schadenfreude because I had a non-dark and bondagey prim corset from there in my inventory. I thought, perhaps, I would find something a little darker there.
And, indeed, there's a whole collection of black-and-a-color prim corsets.
But. There's also a whole set of Electro-cute corsets.
Each one has a different critter -- an octopus, a bat, a teeny dragon, an owl, an alligator, a fish and...well, a few others.
They're brightly colored and come with three patterns for each.The octopus one was perfect.
(I also grabbed the bat, and considered getting the fat-pack, but withheld, because, well...I had more shopping to do still, then.)
I'd had the Panda Express tentacle hair accessory just sitting in my inventory, waiting to be used, and seeing the little happy octopus reminded me of that.
So! I quietly began putting myself together.
I picked up the brightly-colored lingerie at BOOM, and snagged the hair from Magika.
The eyes are my everyday; I just happened to be wearing the piercings; and the skin is one of the one's that's still on sale at Atomic for just a bit longer.
Put it all together and...ta-da!

Come a Little Bit Closer

I was drawn into the Tableau Spring Color Festival by bright colors and beautiful promises from talented content creators.
I stayed for the scenery.
I don't location shoot often because I get self-conscious and awkward -- especially in busy places.
But I stayed. And. I got a photo that I'm kinda crushing on a little (see above).
So, thanks Tableau Spring Color Festival...
For promises made good and pretty photographs. The dress in the photo is one of the Spring Color Festival items, which are set out on carts down along one of the streets in Tableau.
It has a brilliant hip/bum alpha that keeps from awkward pokey-out-y-ness. And. And! It gave me an excuse to wear the MANNA necklace I've only worn once.
Plus. I got to hang out on an old truck near a color-love-cavern.
So. Yes. I'll hush now.

Happy Sunday, kiddos.
This is the short-written post that took all morning and part of the afternoon to get pictures for.
And I'm still not thrilled with them, but, sometimes, you just have to go for it.
So, here we are.

The distillation of cultures and ideas is one that never ceases to amaze -- particularly so when it not only reflects the world outside, but responds to it with an expansiveness that far exceeds the boundaries of its grid-borne pixels.Every item worn in this post can be acquired at one of two fundraisers currently ongoing in SL -- Help Japan and Pacific Crisis Fundraiser.
Both are dedicated to relief efforts for the real-life Japan.

Many items are red and white, or bear the language and symbols of the disaster-stricken country. Others less-definitively tied to any one theme. All are there to raise money for Japan.

Getting Warmer

February is officially over.

It was unofficially the month of tears and bloodshed here on the pages of She Blogs. If you don't know what I'm talking about, check out the archives. All of the posts involve at least one of those two things. They also all had titles from songs.
Yes, February was a theme month here. I just didn't tell you until after the fact.
Enough about February, though. It's March!

"In like a lion, out like a lamb"..."Beware the ides of March"..."Happy St. Patrick's Day"

Etc.

To kick off March blogging, I decided to go with something...a little warmer than tears and bloodshed. So, I went warm! You don't get much warmer than a tank top, sun glasses, shorts and deck shoes. (Unless you want to haul out a bikini or a volcano or fire or illicit sex -- and really, all of those sound like work.)

I like this outfit so much that I've been wearing it for three days -- yes, that means I was wearing it in February -- and mostly not just out of sheer laziness.

It's fun and cool and comfortable -- things that I don't always feel while gawking my way around SL. One of the best things, for me, about this ensemble, is that everything comes from places that I really like.

Surf Co. is one of my favorite stores for cute wardrobe basics, to tanks and tees to the shorts I'm wearing in the photos. In other blog posts and while I'm bumping about in-world, it's not uncommon to see the Hermana Tank from there, because I live in it.
Reek!, the source of the shoes and glasses, is all kinds of fun. The items I chose carry a simple, clean-lined and genuine tidiness that makes me happy. I also recently rebuilt my SL house and used Reek!s letter couch to fill out one of the rooms. My SL house, for maybe the first time ever, is a really comfy, happy place (instead of a scary warehouse/factory-type adventure).

The tank top is from The Sea Hole. The Sea Hole makes me smile, and I want this R2D2 top in RL. A lot. Until then, pixel-Ais will be quite happy to muck around in it. There's a lot of fun to be had in Sea Hole clothing, and I'm making the most of this one.
The bracelets are from Fresh Baked Goods and are something that I've had for years. They're made up of little pale hearts and that makes me happy. At one point, RL Ais made bracelets like that with plastic beads and elastic string, so they're also nostalgic for her.

The skin, from Illusory, is just pretty. I geeked out about it when the previews came out, and I'm still wearing it regularly. The lamb. hair also falls into that category, which might be a bit more obvious, because I was also wearing it in my previous blog post. (And, even though you can't see my Poetic Colors eyes through the glasses, just know I adore their sparkle.)

Lastly, are the poses. I love poses. So often, they're the thing that makes a blog post really happen in my head. I set off with a bevvy of pose stands and just stand and click until something gorgeous or intriguing happens. Sometimes even, I put on an outfit and one of the many poses in my inventory pipes up to tell me it's what the ensemble needs.

In this post, I was playing with some new poses from Just a Pose, and ended up using one of the latest ones from the recently released Best Actress set, as well as an old favorite. Not too long ago, I picked up the "rapunzel, let down your hair" long-hair pose set from croire, and I've been using it every time I sit down for photos. Two of them landed this this post. I also ended up using a hate me and eat me pose that makes me smile.

The Tracks of My Tears

It's Valentine's weekend.

So, pretty much, anywhere you go in SL, there's something pink and/or red on sale.

This is both good and bad. Good, because sales are good. Bad, because sales make it way too easy to justify spending money.

But, at least I'm having fun.

It all started with the Knitting Circle.

Comprised of Atomic, Grixdale, Pink Fuel, Ploom and Mustache, the Knitting Circle has select pink and red items 50 percent off.

On top of that, Grixdale is participating in the Valentine's-themed Project Themeory this weekend.
Fifty Linden Friday also had some Valentine-related items.

Right now, I'm really well-stocked on pink and red.

So, I thought I'd wear some pink and red in a blog post.

In a feat of science and mystery, I managed to wedge items from four of five Knitting Circle shops, Project Themeory, Fifty Linden Friday, and some stuff I just had into this post.

I feel a little amazing.

Valentine's Day is week away.

I'm not really the squishy sort, unless you pin me down and force it out of me. I don't really like that method.

The other way to illicit Ais-squish is to do the absolutely perfect thing at the perfect time. That's the preferred method, though ultimately less easily accessible.

Regardless, the holiday is everywhere.

Last night, I needed an outfit, and this is what happened.

I spend my SL time pretty much in four places -- my music place of musicness, Killing Moon Records (where I DJ and co-own with Davey Swindlehurst); my studio-house; my house-house; and my friend's club and place where I DJ from time to time, F.A.B.

So. Pretty much everyone knows me whereever I am and new people will eventually get to know me maybe. So, I've gotten lazy.

I've adopted the bad habit lately of half-dressing -- skipping shoes and accessories and wearing stuff that only sort of goes together. I'm also a big fan of SL pajamas.

Last night, I thought I'd try a little harder.

I'd recently blogged an outfit I really love, but couldn't wear while being managerial. I had tossed on a temporary outfit to send notices, and had to fight the urge to go back to the blog-outfit from that morning. I was due at KMR for December Dollinger's regular Sunday night set, and I needed some pants.

I'm not gonna lie -- I did some of the lazy clothes tossing and was still dressing when I got there.

But! In the process, I landed on this ensemble.
And I liked it. And I felt more dressed than I have been lately.
So. I blogged it. Ta-da!

Just a short post right now, showing off a lovely new gown from Adam 'n Eve -- Chiandra.

Simple, elegant and sparkly, with a tidy, flattering bustline. I wandered around in the dress's black version for large parts of New Year's Eve.

And, now, I've been wandering 'round in it today, as well.

Christmas is over, but it's not too late to get yourself a gift.

In fact, it may just be the perfect time to do so.

Today, Dec. 26, 300 limited edition gowns have been released by Faery Sola of Studio Sidhe.

There are six colors, 50 of each, for 500L. They all come with the silver Caged Lacrimose Pendant, as well.

The Leaf Couture Gown comes with three skirts -- full length, above-the-knee, and a lovely, flower embellished and tiered couture option.

Delicate silver leaf detailing traces the hems, shoulder straps, and along the high, underbust waistline.

The couture skirt features the added embellishment of black rose clusters with silver leaves at the waistline. There is a cluster both on the front and back of the dress, accompanied by a delicate ruffle detail.

Wings.

I picked them up at Illusions not too long ago.

They are a hunt gift.

I hadn't sorted them into a folder yet. So, tonight, when I went to dress, I started there.

When I don't know what to wear, sometimes, I choose an item and build from there.

Sometimes the item stays, sometimes it goes.

Tonight, it stayed.

I searched for color, and picked out favorites from Surf Co. and Maitreya.

I picked up some stockings that make me happy.

I slipped on a skin with its own sort of colour.

And went straight to hair and eyes that had complimentary shades.

And the talons.

They came, too. I considered shoes.

But talons. They seemed more appropriate. More bird-like.

More like the thoughts in my head.

Yesterday, I got to combine two of my favorite SL things:

Antlers and Poses.

I've been wearing antlers for a few weeks now. I take them off for short periods of time, but they always seem to find their way back to my head.

They make me happy. It's pretty simple.

The poses in today's post are from the Glitterati Ornament pack.

These poses and props gave me another excuse to antler at all of you, and they're buckets of fun. The props are simple, but elegant. They're tidily textured with beleivable shape, dimension and reflection (where applicable). They also fit the poses well.

With ten poses to work with, I ended up breaking this post down into two photo groups. The snowy deer and the reindeer. Admittedly, most of my recent days have been the snowy deer (as seen in the first three photos) -- prancing around in shades of white and silver.

The Illusory preview skins have been a go-to for me since they were released, and the snowy deer version of me is of the 'fair' persuasion. Gauze's white faun hooves, Illusions antlers tinted to white or silver, Miriel's platinum eyes and white hair (today from Maitreya) make the base of this creature.

FAB.PONY's sequin booty shorts in silver have also been a go-to. The appropriate color with the dimension of the sequins and the hoof-flaunting shortness make them an ideal mate for pale colored tops, like the Whippet & Buck number I'm sporting in these photos.

The reindeer outfit (as seen in the three images below) emerged outside of the photo shoot.

Originally, it was going to be all snowy white, but I got pulled to a party mid-shooting. It was an ugly Christmas sweater party with a creepy Santa. I didn't feel sweatery, so, I found another deer option, instead.

Reindeer Aislinn started with a warmer palette. An Illusory preview skin of the 'warmth' persuasion helped out, along with rich chestnut locks from Dernier Cri, my usual Miriel eyes in absinthe, Illusions antlers, and Gauze's faun bits again -- but this time in sable.

At some point, I went out and bought several sets of 5th & Oxford's 'The Tease' along with the additional underbust corset. As a result, I was able to mix and match my way into a Christmasy set of lingerie. I made an emergency purchase of the bell collar from GasMask Flower.
And. Here we are.

After partying for a while in the twisted, technicolor Christmas landscape (and getting to fill in as an emergency DJ with Christmas tunes for a White Elephant party!), I headed home.

With only half the shoot done in white, and my new-found reindeer suit, I decided I could change the landscape some and finish up in color.

The color added an element I hadn't realized I was missing, and, it played well with the gentle humor tied into some of the ornament poses. The set, overall, is well-rounded. Playful poses tie in neatly with more sultry shapes, giving posers the opportunity to just play, put on their serious faces, or a little bit of both.

Snow

Snow.

In the world of real, I woke up to find my land blanketed in it this morning.

The skies there have been trying to make it do that for days.

Last night, they succeeded.

In the world of second living, I've been running around half-dressed and snowy -- well, since about the time it started trying to snow in the world of real.
It's certainly not "weather" appropriate, but I suppose we're lucky that way in the world of second living.
No temperature.
The ensemble started with the latest skin from Ivy Graves.
The Paige Winter Skin is a preview of Graves' new store and skin line, Illusory.
It can be picked up at her Atomic main store.
It's my current favorite face.
Building from the skin, I just looked for white clothes that I liked, and have been wearing variations of Maitreya lingerie. I decided people could see me in my underwear and judge if need be. I felt too lazy to do pants.
The hair is from the new Elikatira line, and I've been wearing it in a string of colors since it came out. The snow is an old Moloko hunt gift.

Once I decided to blog the ensemble (rather than just wear it around), I started snapping.

About two shots in, I remembered that Glam Boa had mentioned a winter pin-up set of poses she'd made. And I had them. And it was awesome.

The five center photos in this series are in that set. The other two are dfo! gems.

And. So. Ta-da! Here we are.

A snowy, poorly-dressed-for-the-weather blog post.

I like it, though.

It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

My Rez-Day Suit

Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010 was my fourth rez day.

Up to this point, I'd never actually celebrated my rez day with anything more than a few well wishes from friends.

This year, I decided I was going to take that low-key approach to rez-days a notch toward less-low key and play a set at Killing Moon Records. Nothing special, just playing some tunes on my rez day.

Davey Swindlehurst and I opened up KMR earlier this year, with blessings from the original KMR creators. It's become a kind of fun home-place for me.
When I showed up to start playing for my not-quite-party, not only were some friends already there, but there was a sign and balloons. Like a real party!

It was super cute and made me smile a lot.

From there, the evening progressed.
People that I ♥ came and listened to me talk in bad accents and play songs that I liked.

I also met some new people.

There was a general sense of awesome about the evening, made even better by the extended humpings from the one and only GlamBoa.

So, it's been a while, darlings.

RL has been a bit hectic as of late. SL has, too.

Put those together and you reach the wonderful world of blogger absenteeism.
Never fear, however! I have not left for the ever of always!
I'm here. And. Today. I'm writing.
With the aid of some lovely pose-work from Studio Sidhe, some new pieces, and some old pieces, I bring you my satyr.

The Merry Satyr pose set and pose stump are semi-recent releases at Studio Sidhe. I've been holding on to them for a few weeks, battling with laggy locations and the dreaded switch to a viewer that accepts alpha layers.

I survived both! Sort of. I still go back to my pre-2.0 browser for every day, just because it's less scary.

When news of these poses came out in to the world of my awareness, I went a little bit giddy. I had two faun/satyr avatars at the time, and now, I have three. We all know I like to dress up, and the fantasy creatures are among the best of all.

The Merry Satyr pose-set comes with five poses for the satyr creatures of SL, as well as a handy-dandy pan flute for all of your woodland adventures. My favorite is the "Puck Stand" (see top photo). It makes me squee a little and dance around in my head.

You can stand pretty, trip-trap through the woods, gambol about and have a general good time, or a lovely sit-down with the set.

The Merry Satyr multi-pose stump comes with three poses and a pan flute giver!
It's very barky and mossy and gives the feel of old woods, which I do quite enjoy.
To get the look just right, I used Gauze's Faun Legs, as well as a faun set from Titania's Court. Truth hair, Mynerva skin, Earthstones jewelry, Illusions horns, and a League dress/top (for the clothed photos).

Bewitched

Broom flight, as an art, is a tricky one.
I requires balance, a good grip, strong night vision and, of course, a little magic.
Young witches and warlocks the world over have struggled with this most basic of skills since brooms and magic first met up with the idea of travel.Never fear, however. Even the best slip up every once in a while.
The trick is to make it look like you meant to do it.
Or. At the very least. Look good while doing so.
And now, to help you practice looking good while flying (and flailing on) a broom, is a special piece from Studio Sidhe.

The Witchy Broomstick Pose Prop comes with six poses -- good for use individually, or in sequence.

Users can fly the friendly skies (confidently and cautiously), experience a broom that's a little more ready to go than they are, high altitude dangling and the careful return to sitting pretty.

The broom is also adjustable! This was a relief for me -- since my unadjusted av is usually just a bit wrong for most pose props.

Styling for the displaying broom was fun, too. The varying nature of the poses allows for all different sorts of scenarios -- whether you're being toppled on the Quidditch field, stealing New England's youth, posing for your mug on the side of a WWII bomber or playing a bit at the ideal of Samantha Stevens

I tried all of those when putting this post together. All of them.
I think I ended up somewhere between the latter two. Or -- at least I hope I did. Since that's sort of where I was aiming.

Admittedly, I'm still working on my night vision, though.

I Bought Cowboy Boots

I went out and bought cowboy boots.

I had two other pair. One was old and had only looked wearable in the vendor picture. The other is good, but there were weaknesses that I'd catch myself staring at.

So. I went out and bought some new ones.

I had on a much more cowboy-boot appropriate outfit right after I bought them from J's.

Then. I changed clothes. And didn't want to take them off. So I didn't.

I tried to break away from the boots, I did. But. I couldn't.

And then, this outfit happened. And I want to take them, and it, off even less.

This outfit -- jammed together as I found one piece I liked, added another, switched out one thing, moved another thing, etc., etc. -- makes me exceedingly happy.

And all of it was in my inventory. Just there!

The shorts I had purchased for another blog post that hasn't happened, so they were newest.

The other bits, though -- like the glasses and hair and shirt -- were old 50L Friday items. The eyes and bracelets and tank and socks I've had for ages. The skin I bought almost immediately when I started my Mynerva kick a while back.

The putting togetherness of it all made me happy.

Especially when I got to the socks. Oh! The socks! Argyle wonderment that disappears into the legs of my shorts because its so tall! How could I not be enamoured?

Especially when it all went so well with my boots?

And. Then. As a part of that happy -- I dragged out the {Just A Pose} pose collection I've been stashing in my stash of stashy stuff.

These poses are strange and beautiful and wonderful and happy. The adventure came full circle as I twisted and contorted over my pose-stand.

A friend dropped in while I was finishing up. He applied the word "Dorkute" to the overall look and verbally high-fived the energy of the poses.

And. Then. I sorted, sifted and uploaded.

And. Well. Here we are.

Falling Out of My Summer Clothes

Hello, darlings.

It's Sunday night. I'm sitting at the opening of a friend's club, and the lag is glorious.

I can't look at the dance floor, and I find that being vain and training the camera on myself is unsettling.

So. I'm staring at the floor. It's brown and woody looking and the attention I'm paying it has only allowed for one crash, so I'm in good shape, I think.

I'm also listening to music. Good music.

While staring at the floor and listening to music, I thought I'd blog a little.

Just a short one tonight, really.I pieced this outfit together, for the most part, Friday to go out to my own club, where my business partner was playing his weekly set.

I decided comfy would be best.

The sweater was a 50L Friday deal from Reek. I have a crush on it. Partially because it's awesome, partially because I didn't have to edit the crackers out of the prims to make it look nice.

Everything else just piled together for the Friday adventure.

Then, Saturday, I added the necklace.

And. Here we are.

A nice belt helped hold me together.

And then I went out.

And landed nearly on top of this Shiny lady.

And that was our simple conversation.

Before we both went in.

Two things about this post:
1. It's my 100th.

2. This is my prom dress.Last week, a friend invited me to the Summerland Prom -- a charity event where a gaggle of us pixelated people dressed up in fancy clothes and danced around and donated money and all of those good things.
It was swanky, the music was good, and there were stars floating around.

There's a rule somewhere, in the grand-rule-book-of-things, that there must be something floating around at proms. Stars seem to be the top choice, but I've seen fish and bubbles and beach balls, as well.

Though I was invited to the event well in advance, I -- as per my usual habits -- waited until almost last minute to put myself together. Fortunately, I sort of had a plan.

I ran directly to LeeZu! for a dress.
I never wear formals, and they're generally too expensive for me to be able rationalizing buying them for the heck of it, so I took the opportunity to go to a store where I visit often and covet the dresses that I talk myself out of purchasing.

This was the first thing that rezzed for me. When I still liked it best after everything else rezzed, I bought it. It's elegant, but a standout with unique shapes and patterning.

A new dress meant new makeup for me, plus, I use just about any excuse I can to get a hold of a new skin. I headed directly to Mynerva, tried on the demos I've tried on a billion times, and found the one that best suited the dress -- the subtle lip colour echoed in some of the dress's rosette detailing.

The hair was an sideways thought, a recent purchase from TRUTH. I was trying on different hairs, looking for a tidy, elegant updo, but none of it worked. Then, I put this one on, think I'd try again later, but, I liked the way the casual curls carried the same sense of elegance as the dress, but also embraced the unconventional bodice. So. I kept it.

There are also shoes under the dress somewhere, though, I'm not sure they were ever visible. Maitreya's Slinky Stiletto in nude is under there though, I promise.

Accessories came last. After struggling to find the perfect pearls, I'd decided to forgo jewelry altogether. But then I remembered Zaara's Nizam set. It sits in my inventory, waiting to be used -- and the white stone, gold metal construction was exactly what I ended up needing.And. Now.

Oh, Kitten

My friends, Ruri and Cricket, have a real SL job. With real hours and a schedule and those sorts of things. They're dancers in a club with loud music.

It's their responsibility to send volleys of playful flirtation and conversation into the audience, to keep the energy up and support the DJ on the music end.

In order to boost their own morale and add an element of fun, they do themes for themselves.

I love that they do themes. It makes me smile and adore them more.
Sometimes, I do themes with them and come visit and stand around and look creepy, or maybe like a stalker. I'm not sure. Regardless -- here's the outfit from last night.

The theme? Kittehs.

Right now, there are huge, overwhelming sales all over the grid, and I've been losing lindens like one of Dexter's quarries loses blood. It's frightening and exhilarating at the same time.

One of the scariest parts, though, is knowing that I'll buy these things and not find excuses to wear them nearly enough.

But! Last night, I took advantage of the theme and the opportunity, and I wore some of the new things.

Before I move on, though, I'll point out that the pose in the photo below this text block makes me exceedingly happy. It is "Love Letters to Japan," by Olive Juice's Bella B.

Every time I pass it in my OJ pose stand, I try to find a good use for it. Today, I succeeded.

Now -- the outfit started with Maitreya. I usually never even venture into the clothes section, because I'm just fascinated by the hair. But, they've had a sale going on. I went there, and, on a day when it was only like moving through molasses, and not molasses in zero degree weather, I ventured into the clothes section.

In some ways, I'm glad I'd not gone in there, because I would have owned a lot of it already. As it was, I was able to get some lovely things for half price and am just giddy about it.

The outfit I'm wearing actually includes pieces three separate items: the Bodysuit de la Ruche, Girdle and Stockings, and Hi-Waist Pants.

The shoes are also Maitreya, but an old, old freebie I still use on a regular basis.

The kitteh bits -- ears and tail -- are from Sn@tch. I have several sets from there, as well as other places. But, I'd just been shopping at Truth, stocking up on styles during their half-off sale, and my go-to Truth pack are the blacks and whites.

The Sn@tch sets I have are all great, but I like the black best, so it worked out.

The Truth style I went with made me happy when I first saw it. I'm a fan of medium length hair with flex -- it doesn't sink through my chest, and it moves a with me like hair is wont to do, but doesn't always do in SL.

The Mynerva skin was my reward for saying no to another skin, which was on sale, but I realized that, right now -- Mynerva is what I'm wearing. And -- it was worth a little extra money to get one that's in my current go-to set. I love the pretty faces and ethereally dewy skin. It's so...natural and touchable and makes me happy.

Eyes came next. My cat-eyes collection overall needs updated, but I found some Poetic Colors Eyes that hit the timeless mark. They're soft, natural, and don't make me look creepy, despite the non-round pupil. This makes me happy.

I accessorized last, trying on different Miel pieces (of which I've accrued many) until I found this one. It's pretty and feminine and beat my inclination to put on a collar or neck brace necklace.

The bracelets are from the Romantigoth set from Kunstkammer -- a store that closed it's doors a while back. But the set still makes me happy.

And...that's it! I went to visit Ruri and Cricket. And it was awesome!
And so on.

Blue Light Special

This post begins with a warning -- the NSFW kind.

There's nothing truly scandalous happening here, of course.

But there is some bare skin...well, lots of it.
And latex and straps and little padlocks and clips do sometimes boggle the minds of innocent bystanders.

There will be little text between the photos. Most of it will be up here.

Just to push the photos down a bit. Just to give you every opportunity to stop reading now, before you get to the monster at the end of this book.

Or something like.

I've been disconnected.

From SL, from other things, from some people.

Just lately. A couple of weeks, maybe.

When that happens, I spend time deciding whether or not it's time to reconnect, or just let the space take over like so many weeds.

Or more, perhaps, just watching. To see what happens.
It's not terribly active of me.

Regardless. As a result of my poor connection, my lack of connection, my whatever it is --

I find myself deviating from my usual SL self.

Different clothes, different skins, different thoughts.

When I got this suit together, I found that I was terribly comfortable and didn't want to leave my little house.

It was good thing.

The skin, from Mynerva, is a Platinum Hunt prize.

It's difficult to tell with the blue lights I used, but it's gray-silver drow skin.

A handful of different makeup options and elf ears come with it.The outfit is from Graves.

A friend came by wearing it one night, and the clips and padlocks intrigued me.
So, I talked myself into buying it.
It's elegant in it's simplicity, and I appreciate that.

The shoes are an old, old freebie I rarely ever wear.
Their loops and locked up look fit the ensemble though, so I progressed wearing them.
The other option was no shoes at all, which, I think, would have worked in it's own way.

The hair is from lamb.
The pixie dip of the banks and the wisps around the face are both sweet and edgy.
There's a sharpness amid the softness that I appreciate.
The eyes are from E's.
I've had them for ages, and I adore them.
The poses are from Leafy and Long Awkward pose.
And the rest...is...well, in the photos.

A short post today, but one that I've been remiss in making.

I met Zoriada Rossini quite a very long time ago in SL.

I was out shopping, trying on the latest ETD hair of the day, and she IMed me.

We started chatting -- talking about the hair and other things, and she asked me if I would consider modeling for her store.

I said yes, flattered and thrilled to be asked such a thing by such a keen lady.

The rest, I suppose, is history. Zori's been a lovely friend and we've had some fun pixel-adventures together, but now, it's time for her to step away from SL.

Zori'd shop in Antiquity is called Madam Zori's, and, years after my first encounter with her, she will soon be clossing the doors on her little shop of Victorian and steampunk goodies.

The walls feature gala-style costumes, formal and casual gowns and dresses, accessories, and a few items for the men, as well.

And, for a little while longer, it's all 50 percent off.

So, head down, take a peek, and pick up some handy Victoriana for those days when SLife just isn't worth living without a corset.

So, I've been updating my in-world profile.

I rearranged my picks, switched out a lot of the photos and adjusted information.

The work's not completely done, but, it's getting there.

As part of the process, I added a pick-line for the DJing activities that I do.For that line, I decided I'd take some new photos today.

I had some I'd taken the night before at Killing Moon Records that I thought I might use, but those got used in the KMR slot...so, new it was!

Tonight's post, I must say, is mostly for vanity's sake.

I picked up this skin from Mynerva a day or so ago, and I'm enamored with the face.

I picked up the underwear and shoes as part of this week's 50L Friday adventure.

The hair is from lamb. -- the new honeycomb color that's been appearing for special events and the like. It goes very well with the blonde-browed version of the skin.

The eyes are my everyday Miriel wear, and the poses are Glitterati.

Things that Make Me Squee(Gee)

Operation Squeegee.

With oil bleeding into the ocean, seeping into the sand, and strangling the living things that dwell there -- cleaning up, helping out, and saving tiny lives isn't just for the non-pixellated.

With proceeds going to support the National Wildlife Federation, the Operation Squeegee fundraising event runs July 1-15.

DJs have been recruited, bloggers have been wrangled, and content creators have been enlisted. There are parties. There are special items. There are thoughts and ideas to be had and good to be done.

While I've shared pixelspace with some of the recruited, wrangled and enlisted, I'm not among them. I'm just someone who spent an afternoon shopping.

I skipped over to the Operation Squeegee home location early in the day -- it was just me most of the time, though I did see a couple of avatars pop in and out. I waited almost patiently while things rezzed.

There's a lovely stage, and some fancy prim doo-dads, and a market. The carts in the market are bedecked with furniture, clothes, poses and all manner of fun items.

While there, I picked up some of those items.
Vendors come in the 50 percent to charity variety and the 100 percent to charity variety. There are also some gifts to be had.

To create this post, I pasted together some of the wares I purchased from the fancy vendors that support the notion of sharing.

Westminster Bubble

After DJing my way through a no-pants, Sexy Tunes party at KMR tonight, I retreated to my little sky-home and found this little dress waiting in my inventory.

What fun!

I got to wear my petulant model face as I snapped photos of the latest from London Dailey's Pink Outfitters. The brightly colored summer Sierra Bubble Dress challenged and won over the serious expression of my pixelface during this shoot -- an attribute to the sheer warmth of the look.

The slender-strung halter of the top and the flirty bubble-poof of the skirt remind me of the beach and the sunglasses I always forget to bring with me.

The single piece prim skirt rounds out enough in the back to accomodate curves, and the small, turquoise accent buttons down the front open up the color palette for accessorizing options.

A Brief Repose

The one and only Glam Boa has opened up a shop.

The maven of supple-curved hijinks is now a purveyor of fine poses in the SLuniverse with {Just A Pose}. The little shop is located in the Bloom sim with a number of other charming venues, chock-full of awesome.

Under the influence of these poses (and, thusly, Glam by proxy) a pixelbody can curve, twist, contort and, indeed, find its sensual, silly, and/or sanguine self.These poses are among a myriad of items I've been meaning to blog, and I even managed to sneak a couple of others into the set.

First is the newest -- Bubbles Clawtooth's "The Morning After" with bangs. It's a Stumblebum exclusive, available in a four-colour pack this week only.

Second are the little leggings from Lika Ruby. Not only are they adorable, but their more than reasonable price is doubly lovely.

Righteous 'Zooms

So, I've got this DJing gig at Killing Moon Records, a place that I have built with the Swindley, another DJ of epic proportions.

Tuesday, I was having a bad day. Or maybe just a cranky day. It's one of those off-weeks where most things are just a little off-kilter, so it's hard to tell after a fashion.

And then the Swindley asked me if I was doing a set that day.

I usually do a set on Tuesdays, and I should have thought of it, but sometimes, I just forget stuff.

And, then, I sounded cranky at the Swindley! It was unintentional, of course -- I only like to be cranky with people who suck.

But I still sounded cranky.

Then, I logged in and put a set together. I called it "Sexy Tunes" and included some tunes that were very sexy, and some other tunes that just make you feel like you need a bath, but in a funny way.

It made me smile a little, but I still sounded cranky in my head.
I then moved onto getting dressed for the event at which I was to play the "Sexy Tunes" playlist. It was a little fun, too. And, eventually, became so fun that I'm still wearing it a day later.

That's one of the good things about SL, I suppose -- you can wear the same outfit for days and not smell. But your friends and co-workers may start to notice and wonder what gunk has gotten under your pixel skin.I actually started with the skin for this ensemble. It's from the Dutch Touch River II line, which is currently on sale (on the path to being discontinued). The eye makeup makes me happy.

Then, I paired it with BOOM's latest Stumblebum offering -- tube tops that have something to say. This one says, "Righteous."
The skirt followed -- I felt all hippie-ish, so I dug and dug and came up with a piece from Sn@tch! The hair came next -- an old hippie-ish style from ETD that I like.
Accessories came last! I don't usually accessorize so much, but I had fun mixing pieces until I came up with this combo of Earthstones and Zaara pieces!
And. Here we are, right now: DJ Crankybritches with the Righteous 'Zooms.

By the Sea

In my last post, I regaled readers with the tale of how I gallavanted around beaches and boardwalks in 5th&Oxford's Seaside Sweetie striped halter and short separates, only to come up empty handed -- no photos to show for my excursions.

But, the Seaside Sweetie skirt and halter in my previous post did me more than the favor of curbing my fear of system skirts -- it gave me time to remember a fabulous beachy place to photo the other items: The Artilleri sim.

Aside from housing some cool places to shop, the sim also has incredible beaches without creepy naked people. It was perfect!

So, I tripped over there yesterday and started snapping.

Artilleri's playground and beaches were just what I needed to find my groove with this fun combination of separates. I rode on the slide, stood on a fountain, tried out a lifeguard chair, lounged on the beach, walked the dock, and waded in the waves.

These pieces fit the summery, fun atmosphere and made me want to plot some RL wanderings to the beach.

To add to the summery look, I coupled the Seaside Sweetie ensemble with a rosy-cheeked Curio skin and lamb's Dog Roses hair, which has always made me think of vintage bathing beauties. Olive juice poses rounded out the fun, and here we are! Ta-da!

Skirting the Issue

So, anyone who spends any amount of time with me in world knows that, among the types of clothes I avoid with a paranoid mania, system skirts top the list. They traumatized me early on in my SL career, and I've never quite gotten over it.

Today, though, I learned that not all system skirts are evil.

The recently released collection of Seaside Sweetie separates from 5th&Oxford includes a skirt. A system skirt.

I panicked a little when I received the review folder. I'd so cleverly avoided system skirts for years! But there, in my inventory, sat a system skirt, just staring at me with a coy little smile on its face.It knew of my fondness for the brand, it knew of my anxiety about doing the products justice in my little pixelsnaps, and it knew that, eventually, I'd have to face it.

It didn't know, though, that once I got it on, I'd find it inspiring.

I'd been wearing the shorts and striped Seaside Sweetie halters all week, galavanting in them as I set up clever beach scenes and visited boardwalks to make photos.

I donned cute hair and sunny skins and adorable sandals, but, when I started snapping, I wasn't getting the results I wanted.

So I took a break and decided I'd shift gears and try photographing the skirt I'd been keeping in my peripheral vision the whole time.

Oh, the wonder of the Seaside Sweetie skirt! The high-waisted pencil-styled loveliness immediately breathed the salt-wind into the room. It drew sultry lines around my curves and whispered the secrets of subtle sexiness.

This time, I didn't go searching for locations, and I didn't start making elaborate sets. I just focused on the skirt, the shape of my pixelbody, and finding what worked best to show them off.

I had fun picking poses and angles and experiementing with the lines of the outfit and the colours in the skirt and the halters from the Seaside Sweetie line.

And, after years of skirting the issue of system skirts, I finally got a little more comfortable in them.

Bella B. Has Me Over A Barrel...

...and I like it.Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to introduce to you the Olive Juice 'Barrel of Poses.'

From the mind and nimble pixelfingers of IsabellaGrace Baroque, this pose prop aptly fits its title. Two barrels (one with flowers, one without), eight poses, and all kinds of possibility.

With this pose prop's tour on the SLDD list recently completed, it's been around on the feeds a bit. And I don't care. I'm blogging it anyway. Because it made me that happy.

It made me so happy that I went to a sandbox to build myself a set with way more prims that I have at my home. And I liked it. And I took pictures. And here we are.

This could also serve as a fun and awesome reminder that, even though the SLDD round is over, THIS AWESOMENESS IS STILL OUT THERE (along with other cool Olive Juice stuff).

Yes, I said that in all caps. It's because I mean it more.

Some Lightning, With a High in the 80s

When the notice about Atomic's 80s-style leotards popped up, I read the card, opened the photo, and caught myself doing a little dance in my head.

I'm not a leotard wearer, I always fail at putting legwarmers with outfits, but I had to have them. They just looked so cool!

The leotards, a part of this weekend's Project Themeory, come in three colors -- teal, black and plum -- with matching legwarmers. Individual sets are L$75 each, and the fatpack of all three is L$150.

While Project Themeory-ing, I also picked up this hair from Posh. Again, it's L$75 (that's the standard Project Themeory price tag), and may be purchased in two colours -- the "carrot" color featured in my photos, or platinum blonde. It's a nice, loose updo with the bangs swept back -- something I've been wearing more and more often (despite my tendency to cling to bangs.)

Once at home, I tugged on the leotard and hair and started styling.

I have a few 80s-ish makeups from different makers, but I always go back to the blue eyeshadow and flaming magenta lips from Curio's Vixen series. Though not deliberately 80s, it fits the aesthetic, I think.

I also added tennis shoes from Tyranny Designs. The colorway is called "Swamp Thing," which has its own ties to the 80s, and was thusly really entertaining to me.

I finished the look off with some Miriel eyes and cake eyelashes.

Once dressed, I realized this would be an awesome time to show off some poses from Dollipops! Dollipops is a relatively new pose venue, andI was fortunate enough to receive a blogger pack. I have been a bit of a blog slacker, though, and haven't gotten to use them yet.

Today, I got to use all five!

They're energetic and went really well with the lightning bolt babe i transformed into with the Atomic leotard.

So here we are! Be excellent to each other!

Going Green

In addition to the feline blue avatars in my last post, Tribal Soul Designs also carries orcs.

The female orc comes in three different sets -- each a different shade of green.

Within each set, one receives eyes, ears, face effects, two shapes, eight skins with different makeups, eyelashes and a hair base cap.

Today's Orc-linn is of the camo variety.To dress her up, I snagged "Corn" from Mirai.

The thick-corded style reminded me of the big scary ugly leader Uruk-hai in the Lord of the Rings movies, so I got it. It also happens to look pretty nice on a normal girl.

Then I dug around in my inventory and found the Boxed Heroes Female Warrior Av. I used most of the pieces, and came out feeling sufficiently war-like to wholly become the orc I knew I could be.

Primal Instinct

Fantasy Faire 2010 may be over, but there's still plenty of fantastic to be had.

One of the places I discovered during the Fantasy Faire is Tribal Soul.

Syndel Daviau sent out a call for bloggers, and I readily volunteered, because, if there's one thing that makes me happier than nice skins -- it's fantasy skins. Her shop contains all sorts of gear -- including complete avatars, separate skins, individual accessories, tattoos, etc.While some Tribal Soul does carry basic human skins, there's also a large contingency of fantasy skins -- including a film-inspired feline line. There are male and female options, differently-hued blues in skin tones, and different pattern markings on the faces of the individual skins.

The base skins come with ears, tails, eyes and queues. More advanced sets come with shapes and other accessories.In today's post, I took snaps of Mitara, as seen in the three images above. This base set comes with two skins -- pink lipped and blue lipped version, tail, two queues (not pictured), ears and eyes.

I grabbed some Mirai hair to go with the outfit, and slipped on one of my all-time faves and something that's been in my inventory for years -- the Primal bikini from Chaospire. I also picked up some gladiator sandals for 50L at the Cherry sale that goes until may 5.The second avatar in the post is Uhtu, seen above and below. He comes with two skins -- plain and with markings, shape, ears, eyes, tail, two queues and two additional hair options featuring a mohawk.

When trying to dress him, I realized that most everything I had for boys was either contemporary (I raided Last Call's men's section before it closed) or free, so I picked up a tunic from Analise.

Fantasy Faire 2010: The Eye of the Tiger

Greetings, merlings and wondernauts! It's Friday, April 23, and we're just two days and some change from the close of Fantasy Faire 2010!

Never fear, however -- for that means there's still time to make some thrilling discoveries on the faire's nine sims of glittering thoughts and passing dreams.
